Most students “study” by re-reading solved examples. It feels fluent, and evaporates by exam day. What works is retrieval: closing the book and reproducing the method from memory.
1. Practice recall, not recognition
Cover the solution, attempt the problem, then compare. Our practice quizzes are built for exactly this: fresh questions each round, instant checking, and the full working shown after every answer.
2. Interleave topics
Doing 20 identical fraction problems trains pattern-matching, not judgment. Mix fractions, equations, and percentages in one session, choosing the method is the real skill being tested.
3. Check immediately
Feedback delayed is feedback denied. Check each answer right away while your reasoning is still fresh; a mistake reviewed within a minute teaches, one discovered tomorrow just confuses.
